First!

Welcome to beholdin’ !

Hello.  beholdin’ is a game that is very much WIP.  If you’re reading this, I’ve probably invited you to try out this game because I value your opinion!  conversely, I may be worried about you guilting me if you found out I didn’t invite you.

ABOUT beholdin’

beholdin’ is a game I’ve been working on for about 5 months on my commute.  It is a game about Achieving and Exploring.  I try my best to optimize for these two themes, although much of the exploration work is yet to come.  The game is top down, keyboard + mouse driven shooter.  it lacks a death mechanic - your primary motivator is to top the leaderboard (shown on the title screen).  This leaderboard rolls over every day, as the game generates a new map every day.  When you enter a room, there may be crystals.  each crystal you break will increase your multiplier by 1.  every time you get hit, your multiplier drops by 1.  Thus, the successful score chaser will almost always optimize by destroying every crystal before destroying any enemies at all - easier said than done. One room in the maze is an exit room - once you leave, you will be prompted to submit your score.  you can replay and resubmit as often as you please.

WHY

I’ve just invited you in case you are interested.  Mack and I play almost every day and discuss changes, or issues we’ve had.  I will be attempting to use Itch.io’s forum system for meaningful conversation like this, and encourage anyone to post there - any feedback is welcome.  literally: anything at all.  If you never play, thats cool too - thanks for reading!

UPDATES

I have a rolling list of tasks to keep the game moving forward, but will be proactive about fixing or tweaking elements of the game as discussed in the forum area.  I hope to use Itch.io’s devlog feature from now on, so you can probably ignore the stickied posts from me in the forum - unless you want some history!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see you on the leaderboards.
